Tucked away at the picturesque corner of Bay Avenue and Montauk Highway, the Historic Smith Duck Farm is a true hidden gem within a 10-acre Brookhaven Town Park. This scenic haven offers stunning views of the Terrell River, stretching out toward the 260-acre Terrell River County Park, a breathtaking natural preserve.
Since 2013, the Ketcham Inn Foundation has been dedicated to restoring and preserving this historic landmark. Through meticulous care—clearing debris, maintaining the landscape, and working to stabilize its historic structures—the Foundation ensures that the farm remains a cherished part of Brookhaven’s heritage.
The site features nine historic structures, each in various stages of restoration. Among them, the 1970 Butler barn has been revitalized and now serves as a gathering space for fundraising events that support ongoing preservation efforts.
Excitingly, the "Tin Barn" has been transformed into the Barn Again Farm Stand, bringing new life to the farm. Join us for its grand opening on April 18th and experience history in action!
With its rich history, cultural significance, and serene landscapes, the Historic Smith Duck Farm stands as both a tribute to Brookhaven’s past and a thriving space for community engagement and education.
